Driven by the ongoing rhetoric and dehumanising reactions to people seeking asylum, newcomers, and “others” in society, Borders became the main frame for Mann’s work. In 2020, alongside her M.A. thesis research into the value of access to art within asylum seeker centres, Mann’s practice took an introspective turn towards the exclusionary borders which people experience at the peripheries of and within Northern European societies.
